I can't describe how excited and happy I was last weekend when I saw all the trees blooming. I felt even better when I got to the Lafferty's house. The 2 hour drive was definitely worth it when I saw their beautiful garden.
Pink blossomed trees lined the street and the beautiful green grass from their garden made me feel like I was dreaming. This is even more beautiful after the horrible winter that Chicago had. It felt wonderful to be surrounded by nature again. We, like trees, were created by nature and bloom in our own ways, which makes us all unique. Like flowers, we bloom in Spring. The garden is filled with my favorite pink color and the greenish leaves look fresh and bright...full of life. Deep down inside I feel grateful and lucky to see the abundance of life. The flowers seemed to come to life in the morning after they were watered. The fresh smell of morning dew filled my soul and heart. Like trees and flowers, we need love, sunshine and nature in order to flourish. Like spring I will grow and bloom like the flowers. Like trees and flowers, we need love, the sunshine and nature in order to flourish.
In the evening, my friend Megan cooked burgers for her family and her grandfather, Melvin Clyde Lafferty. We were in her parents' backyard listening to the water fall and enjoying organic flavorful burgers she prepared. I have been craving burgers lately- the flavor has been on my mind. Organic burgers are the best when seasoned with fresh herbs- it brings the flavors out more. Although this burger is simple, it can stand out more with GranQueso cheese, which is aged for 6 months. This Spanish and Portuguese cheese and cinnamon and paprika bring out the unique flavor in the burgers. GranQueso cheese is best paired with IPA beer.
My Luck continued to bring me great people to meet, all my friend 's family including her grandfather, Mel Lafferty. Mel is 92 years old. Yeah, you all he is 92 and healthy. I found out his secret to live long, " red onion. " While he was putting a big giant pile of red onion on the burger , he said "I know what is in heaven." So I am assuming that is his secret ! He gave me a lot of wisdom for me to keep it everywhere I go.
