Thai Papaya salad or Som Tom is a staple dish from Thailand. The crunchy from papaya adds the fun part in to the dish with a tangy, salty and sweet make these salads one of a kind.
Traditionally, you have to use clay mortar with a wooden pestle, so you can pound and mix all the ingredients together. For this recipe, you won't need for the mortar because I would like to represent the Thai flavor so you can enjoy the tasty salad that has been famous everywhere in the world. And yet I substitute : palm sugar with brown sugar simple syrup to make it easy for people who are far a way from Asian store or you don't have one near you. Papaya with Radish. Here it is hard to find raw papaya......
Ingredients
3 cloves garlic 1 Thai chili or you can substitute with 1 teaspoon dry chili flake 2 tablespoons brown sugar simple syrup 2 tablespoons fresh squeeze lime 1 tablespoon fish sauce 4 cups Slice Radish , cut into stripe 1/4 cup cherry tomatoes, cut in a half 1/4 cup green bean, cut into 1 inch lengths
Steps
In the food processor or blender, blend garlic and Thai chili not too smooth just enough to bring out the flavor. In about 3 seconds. In the medium mixing bowl, mixed well garlic, Thai chili, brown sugar simple syrup,fresh squeeze lime and fish sauce. Add Radish, cherry tomatoes and green bean into the bowl mixed all ingredients together. Serve with sticky rice
