Sweets and Snacks Expo 2017 Review

This is my first year attending the Sweets and Snacks Expo. To be honest, I was totally overwhelmed by how many people and vendors were there. I left with so many samples from so many different vendors. The best part is I got to meet founders of the brands and companies whose products that I have been working on recipe for my blog with their product. To get to know them better in person was such an honor.

The most exciting part for myself was to interview Joy Bauer from The Today Show.  She is one of the nation’s leading health authorities, the nutrition & health expert for NBC’s TODAY show, the founder of Nourish Snacks, and the official nutritionist for the New York City Ballet. Nourish Snacks and Joy also just rebranded with cool new packaging and  a reformulation of ingredients, shapes, and tastes. I am such a fan of her blueberry, apple, and coconut vanilla granola bites. ​

 ​

The next best part is I got the chance to meet the founder of Dang Foods company and Tropical Fields Crispy Coconut Rolls.

- Both founders of Dang Foods company are Thai. They used their mom’s recipe to create their coconut chips recipe, and also now they are launching a new product of Sticky-Rice Chips. I am so proud for Thai people to be making such a great healthy product that satisfies. re to edit.

- The @tropical_fields company is a company that was founded by an Austrian  family; they have their manufacturing base in Thailand.  I loved it right away because I know this snack well as I grew up. The crunchy texture with the coconut and sesame flavors make them so good. It would be great with coconut ice cream too. ​

Here are some of the featured brands from the expo broken down into the sweets and snacks categories.

Sweets :

In honor of this first year that I have attended the expo, I have created the "Sweets and Snacks Expo Cake". It is made from strawberry cake and strawberry buttercream topped with 10 featured sweet  from the expo.

1. Dillons chocolates: All Natural Dark Chocolates filled with sea-salted soft caramel and vanilla bean filling .
2. Daelmans Stroopwafels: Caramel and Dutch waffle cookie in one Bite.
3. Love My Cake Bites: This fun colorful cake has almond flavor sandwiched in between raspberry jelly and coated in dark chocolate.
4. Yum earth: Organic sour twists with a cool natural color such as carrot, blackcurrant, and turmeric.
5. Fun Sweets: Cotton Candy.
6. Gimbals Candy: The mouthwatering sour jelly beans with fruit flavors.
7. Sweet Works: The world of cake decoration.
8. Mike And Ike Candy:  Chewy flavored Candies.
9. Finisweetsusa: Fizzy Tornadoes with Six berry flavors plus a bit of fizz.
10. Smarties: The All American favorite candy roll.

Last but not least is the Amore di Mona : This is such a fine artisan chocolate that it is hand made with all natural, Non-GMO, organic, kosher, vegan, low glycemic and common allergen free ingredients. They come with a great package that is put it together by hand. This would make a great gift to give for someone special. ​

Snacks : ​

1. Dang Foods: Original Coconut Chips, Caramel Sea Salt, and Chocolate Sea Salt are my favorite. It is such a good snack during the day or you can add with your smoothie bowl or along with granola.
They also make sticky rice chips flavored with Sriracha Spice that I would like you to try if you are a fan of spicy food. It has a little kick of chili, and a little sour flavor from vinegar. I found out this goes so well with guacamole.

2. Nourish Snacks: I am totally over the moon with all of the flavors that they have. I can totally munch this during a meal, or it can be a pick me up snack during the day. It has such a great taste and is also filling so that you can have sustained energy until your next meal. I picked the Blueberry Apple to be one of my main ingredients in my smoothie bowl which flavor goes so well with my "Blueberry Muffin Smoothie Bowl Recipe". ​

3. Skinny dipped: I am sweet tooth kind of person, so this is my a little treat during the day. With a good source of protein from almonds and a little sweetness from the chocolate it makes me not feel guilty. My favorite one is the raspberry flavor. You can get more creative by adding this goodie into your smoothie bowl as I do too. Here is the inspiration from my IG feed  "delightful mango smoothie bowl and bright pink pitaya smoothie bowl". ​

4. One Protein Bar: This brand is one of my favorite bars out on the market right now. The flavors of Birthday Cake, Almond Bliss, Lemon Cake, Peanut Butter Pie, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, in particular, are so tasty. ​

5. Bounce: These are protein energy balls with a delicious combination of whey protein, and so many tasty flavors. It has 8g protein, 6g fiber all while remaining GMO free, gluten free, and vegetarian.

6. Organic Living Superfoods: Coconut - Crusted Macadamia Nuts are so delicious with their crunchy texture of macadamia nuts and coconut. ​

7. Bnutty: The Blissful Blueberry is one of my favorite flavors! They come with a little cup that you can scoop them up as a snack or you can take a dip with apple, pear, or healthy chips. ​

8. Think Jerky: This has a little spicy kick from Sriracha Honey. ​

9. Keep Healthy Snack Bars: This Organic Low Glycemic 12g. protein bar is a clean, healthy and safe pre-workout boost without sugar alcohols.

10. Simple Mills : This garlic and herb sprouted seed crackers is such bright flavors with a garlic kick. It is simple, delicious real food, gluten-free, Non-GMO, paleo-Friendly, and Certified Gluten-free; free of Grains, Soy, Corn, Dairy & Gums/Emulsifier. ​
